Acts 2:42-47…

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

A Family of Faith

Presbyterians are theologically inclusive and ecumenical. We like to make it easy to join our churches. If you can say with sincerity that you believe in Jesus the Christ and accept him as your Savior, you are as good as in! We also ask you to make a public profession; that you renounce Satan and evil and that you promise to build up rather than break down our family. Translated into “Presbyterian parlance” this is written as promoting the “peace and purity of the church.” The gospel of Jesus and his teaching in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the ultimate guideposts for membership. We are “reformed and always reforming.” That means that if our church is teaching or acting in ways that are not in keeping with the message of Jesus, we encourage our members to speak out “in love.”

You can become a member by transferring your membership from another Christian church. You can become a member by professing your faith in Christ as mentioned above. You can become a member by being baptized in our church if have not already been baptized. You can become an affiliate member if you seek to hold your membership with the church you grew up in or another church where you spend a great deal of time when not residing in Birmingham. You are also welcome to participate in our worship and programs without becoming an official member. Jesus will receive you “just as you are,” and we will embrace you likewise.
